We had a blast shrimping in the St. John's river this year (2007). The shrimp run usually begins in mid August and goes on well into September. I thought folks were pulling my leg when they said shrimp came this far up the river from the ocean(we're over 40 miles up river) but it's true. They're caught with cast nets and the daily limit is 5 gallons of whole shrimp per boat/ per day. We shrimped every chance we got and wound up the season with over 40 Gallons of whole shrimp. The shrimp averaged very large to Jumbo this year as you can see in the picture above. Sue loves shrimp and she has enough in the freezer to last her all year and she eat all she can stand. I feel like Forest Gump .
We love Catfish and it's a good thing because the St. John's river has some good catfishing opportunities. I thought I was doing great when I caught these 2 nice fish, one was around 5lbs and the other about 3 lbs. Becky burst my bubble though when she caught a 16 1/2lb monster the following weekend. Check out the pictures below!!!!
This was a REALLY BIG Catfish that Becky caught. It tipped the scale at 16 1/2 lbs and was 34 inches long. It is the biggest freshwater fish I have personally seen caught while I was present. Becky's heart was pounding so hard I thought it was going to come out of her chest!

We've done quite a bit of fishing at Rodman reservoir during January. The Lake is drawn down about 7 to 9 feet every few years by the Corp of army engineers to control weeds. All the fish in the reservoir are compressed into the old river channel and we have had a blast catching them. Above is a picture of a days catch .
