I Enjoy fishing and it's a good thing. We have moved to an area that is considered to be the fresh water fishing capital of the country. On this page I'll post pictures of notable fish we catch. Above is an 8 1/2 lb fish caught in the lake near our house.
Becky caught this GIANT Catfish in the St.John's river. We love fishing and shrimping in the St.John's and go most every weekend the weather is nice. This fish weighed 16 1/2 lbs and was 34 inches long. For more photos of this monster go to the river fishing page.

This bass was caught in a beaver pond in North Georgia just North of Rome, Ga. We never offically weighed it but I estimate it's weigtht at 10 lbs at least. It was a really large bass.

While I was trapping for beaver on some ponds near the Ostanala river outside Rome, Ga. I came to a beaver dam that had broke. It left a pool of water about 20ft across and maybe 1 foot deep. It was full of fish and I saw a giant fin in it. I reached down and pulled out this bass. Standing beside it is my daughter Elizabeth. This was one big bass!

I caught these 2 bass in the same beaver pond that Sue caught her 10 pounder in. I would fish this pond only occasionally since it was difficult to get to. It was only about 1 acre in size and within 1/4 mile of the Ostanala river. When the river would floof (which was often) this pond would be covered over so I guess it would get restocked. I never remember catching a bass under about 3 pounds out of this pond. It was probably the best pond I ever fished in.

How's this for a stringer of bass? The biggest fish was around 7 lbs on down to about 2 lbs. with a total of 13 fish. That's my daughter Elizabeth, my son Jeremiah and my wife Sue. I wish i could say we caught them on a pole but truthfully the dam on the farm pond drained on the farm in Marietta Georgia. Theey went down in the muddy pool left and netted these fish.

Here's a picture of one more Bass from that same beaver pond. I caught lots of bass from other ponds and some pretty large ones, up to about 5 lbs, but I never caught as many big bass as out of this little pond. This bass was about 6 lbs. I never caught a bass as large as Sue's out of this pond and in fact the 8 1/2lb bass at the top of this page is the biggest I've ever caught. Sue caught another 10+ pounder while I was a county agent in South Georgia but unfortunately we didn't get a picture of it. My brother still lives in Rome georgia and I told him years ago where this pond was. He looked for it several times as have some other folks I know there but they all say that it is gone now. The beavers have moved on a long time ago (this picture was from 1981) and the dams are all gone.
